In exciting news - for the very first time the arabica coffee genome sequence has been released.
The genome is the complete set of genetic material that comes together in order to give all organic life its unique form.
The work has been commissioned through a partnership between Lavazza & Illycaffè and is the first fully open-access genome sequence for Arabica coffee. The mapping seeks to prepare the coffee industry for some of the potential impacts of climate change, and to work towards further improving the quality of the coffee on offer around the world.
