World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a non-profit headed by the two Michelin Star Spanish-American Chef José Andrés, who describes their work as follows:
WCK responds to natural disasters, man-made crises, and humanitarian emergencies around the world. We're a team of food first responders, mobilizing with the urgency of now to get meals to the people who need them most. Deploying our model of quick action, leveraging local resources, and adapting in real time, we know that a nourishing meal in a time of crisis is so much more than a plate of food—it's hope, it's dignity, and it's a sign that someone cares.
WCK offers support in a number of crisis zones, including the Ukrainian refugee Crisis. Millions of hot meals are being served 24 hours a day at eight border crossings into Poland. Similar support operations are being conducted in Moldova, Hungary and Romania. Restaurants in Ukraine, including Odessa, Kyiv and Lviv, are being supported to help feed their besieged populations.
